With the soul of a poet and the keen eye of a realist, author James Rebanks explores how greed and hubris have ruined British agriculture and are endangering its natural environment. Narrator Peter Noble does full justice to Rebanks's style. Phrases such as "puffy white stars floating in the black night sky" come off sounding natural, not forced. But Noble also captures the author's anger at what has happened to the land over the generations and expresses hope that comes from making a commitment to environmental change.
