This multilayered Afrofantasy draws upon the talents of three narrators. Ronald Peet is resonant and unhurried as Ekon, a young man desperate to prove himself as a sacred warrior for the jungle city of Lkossa. Keylor Leigh is wistful and versatile as Koffi, an indentured beastkeeper at Lkossa's Night Zoo. And Tovah Ott is husky and bewitching as Adiah, a magic-channeling daraja. The stakes ramp up as characters venture into the jungle in search of a vicious monster.
