Secrets abound in this fantasy thriller with an ensemble narration. The story features a lawyer and three incarcerated characters. Cayder, a public defender, portrayed by Graham Halstead, personally knows the devastating consequences that magic can have on a society. Cayder's disgruntled tone is the listener's primary companion throughout this audiobook as he sets out to free his sister, Leta, voiced by Emily Shaffer, from prison. Raymond J. Lee portrays freshly incarcerated Jey in a nonchalant tone, delivering laugh-out-loud moments that disguise the character's real motives. Princess Elenora is portrayed by Susan Bennett in a gentle, cautious tone that develops into fierce determination as she sorts through the truth of her detainment.
