SUNDAY BRUNCH

by | Read by Sharon Washington

Fiction • 10 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2004

Lexi, Jewel, Jermaine, Capri, and Angel are four African-American friends who meet in law school. Over the years, they maintain their commitment to each other every Sunday at brunch, during which they examine their relationships with men, their professional lives, and their closeness to God. The main character and the novel itself take on strong Christian overtones. While the action takes place in Houston, the women hail from New York and New Orleans, making the narrator ply her skills. Regrettably, Sharon Washington is a reader, not a performer. She leaves audible gaps between just about every sentence, a technique that lessens the listening experience.
