This classic play by the legendary poet and playwright Federico Garcia Lorca is given new life with this full-cast production, complete with sound effects. Narrator Antonio Martínez Asensio sets the scene for the action, providing descriptions of the settings and developments, while a full cast of characters deliver the story of the repressive Bernarda Alba and her daughters, who are trapped in an extended period of mourning in a rural village in Spain. The conflicts between Bernarda and the daughters, as well as suitor Pepe el Romano, are enlivened with dramatic performances. The actors all, appropriately, have Spanish accents. This vivid production feels like a full theatrical experience. S.E.G. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award, 2022 Audies Winner © AudioFile 2022, Portland, Maine [Published: MARCH 2022]
