Ostensibly the story of three generations of Italian women, the audiobook features moments of love, separation, struggle, and family. Appropriately, the female narrators take center stage as the story unfolds in a nonlinear fashion. Brentan, Flanagan, and Gupta each deliver a confident performance, brimming with energy and intention. Sometimes accents and vocal tones can be overwhelming when the dialogue speeds up, but each narrator does a fine job of bringing the copious details and methodical exposition to life. Ballerini is at his usual precise best in his smaller role; his delivery is sharp and clear. This is the kind of audiobook that is an easy listen.
