Jeremy Carlisle Parker's able and confident delivery keeps listeners' attention focused on this YA novel. From the beginning, Fallon repeatedly reveals her feelings for Chloe, her former BFF and onetime lover. The year before the novel opens, Fallon was left feeling abandoned when Chloe departed for college immediately after their first hookup. That development is something they have managed to keep hidden from their respective mothers, who are in business together, and close friends. Parker deftly handles Fallon's venting, frequently directly to listeners, as well as her arguments with herself, her friends, and Chloe. Miscommunications are key and are dealt with as the girls inch forward toward a deeper relationship. E.J.F. © AudioFile 2022, Portland, Maine [Published: OCTOBER 2022]
