Set in the North Maine Woods, this atmospheric thriller is a must-listen. FBI Agent Danny Barrett is assigned to go undercover to learn why so much money is flowing through a small lumber company and why people who ask questions about it turn up dead. Adam Gold creates believable multidimensional characters. The story is primarily told from Barrett's point of view. He is an agent who believes in doing the right thing and finding the truth. Catherine Ho's chapters are interspersed throughout the book; she portrays a woman who provides perspective and history, and ties together various characters and plot points to connect the broader story.
