Julia and Eva, portrayed by Sophie Ward and Lara King, respectively, escape their families to live together and to love each other in Vienna from 1910 to 1946. As they find new freedom and belonging in the liberal community, Julia's yearning for a child causes unforeseen complications. Crossing decades and touching on themes of oppression, mental illness, art, music, and queerness, this complex story is made more understandable with two expert and engaging narrators voicing the distinct characters. Against a backdrop of the Viennese art world, fear of the Nazis, and even visits with Dr. Freud, this story takes the listener on a journey that is emotionally raw, at times suspenseful, and historically intriguing.
