Linda Fairstein builds a complicated scenario enhanced by classy plotting and crisp writing. Barbara Rosenblat delivers a stunning series of characters. She dispenses Fairstein's well-researched historic, geographic, and literary lore brilliantly, and when Alex is confined in a coffin-like box, Rosenblat's performance is, quite literally, breathtaking.
