John Hopkins and Eleanor Tomlinson perform this riveting story, the fourth entry in the Southampton-based Jonah Sheens series. The detective chief inspector is enjoying a drink in a pub when Keely Lennox, 16, walks in, covered in blood. She is smart, emotionally cold, and somewhere she has a sister, 14-year-old Nina. Keely will help the police find her sibling if they first listen to her accounts of the girls' lives in foster care. Both narrators have appropriate English accents. Tomlinson is excellent as Keely tells her story, channeling the girl's intelligence and coolness. Hopkins is also terrific. His pleasant, deep voice carries the personalities and emotions of Sheens, as well as the secondary characters. G.S. © AudioFile 2022, Portland, Maine [Published: OCTOBER 2022]
