Fireweed

In 1887 young Ed McLaren goes west to Washington state's Okanogan Valley to pan for gold. Fireweed follows Ed's life as both he and the state mature and change. This historical novel is full of details about pioneer life in Washington--including more than most people might want to know about range laws and cattle grazing practices. But Gene Engene brings the story to life by becoming Ed McLaren and investing the voices of individual characters with personalities of their own.
