The Genesis story of God ordering Abraham to slay his only son, Isaac, is the basis for the title of this true story. It was written by the mother of an only child who, at age 25, after an exemplary life as an honor student, Annapolis graduate, and naval officer, shot and killed his wife's ex-husband. From this unthinkable circumstance and the life sentence that followed, the author and her husband faced emotional and spiritual trials that are described with gut-wrenching immediacy and humility.
