GARDEN OF EDEN

Scott Sowers's folksy storytelling style is the perfect choice for this surprising story of small town life. From the novel's shocking opener to its sweet conclusion, he lends a nuance of irony to the author's observations. Rather than creating specific characterizations for the townsfolk, Sowers applies voices that highlight the emotions of particular scenes. Philandering husband Hayden is sugary sweet when attempting to appease his wife, whose flippant speeches are rife with parody of her situation. The local judge's tongue is full of Dixie when drinking and gossiping. Sowers's delivery enhances the story's humor, to listeners' delight.
