NO ONE LEFT TO COME LOOKING FOR YOU

Author/narrator Sam Lipsyte embodies protagonist Jack Liptak with the right mix of youthful nihilism and bravado. Lipsyte chooses not to act out the other voices of the downtown music scene that is the setting of his Manhattan mystery. Instead, he provides a straight reading that works well and keeps the plot moving efficiently with the right mix of punk-noir humor. The story focuses on Jack's stolen bass, which is revealed to be connected to a murder. Soon, Jack and his comrades are combing Alphabet City looking for clues.
