WORLD MADE OF GLASS

Jennifer Nittoso narrates this moving story with such expression that listeners will deeply empathize with Iris, the main character. In 1987, Iris is a sixth grader in a New York City private school. It's the height of the AIDS epidemic. Sadly, Iris's father has contracted AIDS and is dying. There is a lot of stigma and misinformation about AIDS during this time. In addition to grief, Iris is dealing with prejudice. The rage and sadness that she feels propel her into AIDS activism. Nittoso narrates with energy that matches Iris's emotions. She increases her cadence in passages in which Iris becomes agitated or angry, conveying her feelings perfectly. Nittoso also gives other characters distinct voices.
