HARD LANDING

As witnesses are threatened, police officers are killed, and evidence is destroyed, the case against drug kingpin Gerry Carpenter starts to fall apart. Daniel Shepherd goes undercover in a prison filled with brutal murderers and corrupt staff to discover how Carpenter can orchestrate killings, evidence tampering, and pay-offs from inside his cell. Despite the drama and abundant violence, the prison setting is claustrophobic, time screeches to a standstill, and tedium proliferates. The flatness of Martyn Read’s narration successfully characterizes the hopelessness of prison life as Carpenter gets to the bottom of the drug trafficker’s network.
