SILENCER

by | Read by Richard Ferrone

Mystery & Suspense • 11.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2004

When a rogue undercover U.S. Marshall connected to the Witness Protection Program starts killing witnesses, it's up to former Prosecutor Amanda Scholes to stop him. While this production is perfectly produced and directed and narrator Richard Ferrone is a joy to listen to, the story ultimately doesn't work. Scenes of suspense and violence churn the emotions as Ferrone shifts from gravel-voiced killers to terrorized victims. But this "noir" fails to deliver the emotional punch the genre is known for. Amanda is rescued by a twist of fate that, while plausible, is unsatisfying. R.O. © AudioFile 2005, Portland, Maine [Published: OCT/NOV 05]
