Philadelphia Detective Dan Brennan digs deep to find out what connects a dead heiress and a ghost in the present with a string of cold case murders in the 1930s. Delozier's latest police procedural is ably narrated by Jeffrey Kafer and Rachel L. Jacobs. Kafer uses a controlled, steady pace and an intense, gravelly voice to show the detective's gravitas as he investigates the present-day suspicious death of Erin Dolan in her grandfather Pap's mansion. Erin's teenage daughter, Cassie, superbly voiced by Jacobs, communes with the ghosts of murder victims in the 1930s that haunt Erin's mansion. Cassie also communicates with Brennan's daughter, Elle, who died recently. Jacobs fully realizes Cassie and Elle's naïveté, along with Cassie's newfound self-confidence at the end. S.D.B.
