THE JUMPER

Julia Whelan capably handles all the voices in this audiobook. Late-night radio host Lemoine meets base jumper Cali when she lands near him on one of her jumps. The impromptu meeting turns into a relationship. Inspired by true events, this audiobook is a script, so the listener will hear stage directions ("exterior car") in addition to dialogue. Whelan alternates between the sardonic, relaxed quips of Lemoine and the soothing tones of Cali. Whelan also creates voices for a handful of other characters, including the soft Southern drawl of a friend. As the intensity rises, Whelan ratchets up the emotion.
