Dion Graham employs all the charm and enthusiasm he can muster in this first title in the Dragon Games series. Each character receives a nuanced personality. Teacher Ms. Long is aloof when three of her students are magically transported to Imperia on a quest to return the Thunder Egg. Big and goofy Zane is stunned to see he is a furry purple monster, self-conscious Luca is amazed to find himself a fire-breathing dragon, and brainy Yazmine is pleased to learn she can become invisible at will. Graham picks up the volume, pace, and intensity during the unlikely team's confrontations with Magma Mamba and when they finally solve the riddle of the whispery Ancient Ones.
