In San Francisco, 61-year-old Quinn Thompson, a widower, befriends young carpenter Jack Adams and divorcée Maggie Dartman. Despite their friendship, Quinn continues to believe that he needs to spend the rest of his life isolated from the companionship of others. To atone for his failure as a husband, Quinn plans to embrace the solitude of his new yacht as he sails around the world. As Quinn and Maggie develop a romantic relationship, Quinn is determined to remain resolute about making his journey and leaving Maggie behind. Glenn Fitzgerald's smooth, flowing tone gives him the voice of a pleasing storyteller. However, his failure to differentiate characters renders the production devoid of emotional depth.
