HOW TO EXPAND LOVE

There's a curious disconnect between the content of this book and its delivery. Jeffrey Hopkins is clearly familiar with the Dalai Lama's teachings on love; Hopkins was the holy man's interpreter for a decade, and he translated this book. However, while Hopkins is clear and methodical throughout, helping readers to distinguish between the types of mental action described by the Dalai Lama, his voice is disengaged, even unemotional. This may be desirable for a translator, but it fails to bring the Dalai Lama's message of systematic love to life.
