Romantic Fiction • 13 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1978

While Bonnie Hurren does a competent job narrating this lesser novel by Seton, the story is not compelling enough to hold the listener's interest for thirteen hours. Amanda abandons her Eastern debutante lifestyle to marry Dart, a mining engineer whose Apache heritage leads them on a quest for a lost gold mine. Seton describes the difficult life of post-Depression mining towns, the life of Native Americans of the period, and the desert landscape of Arizona with great love--more, perhaps, than most listeners would want. This work will interest fans of Seton--older listeners in particular prefer her more genteel style of romance--but this is not her best work. T.R. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: FEB 94]
