He offers familiar strategies for retaining good team members--a safe working environment, abilities that fit responsibilities, and clear objectives and compensation. But the core message for leaders is broader: Create a logical structure that specifies what needs to be done, find people whose natural talents and work ethic fit the responsibilities, and look for character and social/emotional qualities that facilitate good teamwork and corporate citizenship.
