When Bonny is made to attend charm school, her worst fears are realized, but the experience also brings out her creative side. Prunella Scales, of "Fawlty Towers" fame, does a delightful job introducing each of the girls, as well as their upbeat teacher. As the girls compete for the "glistering" tiara, the potential pitfalls of girls' behavior at this age emerge as the girls are overly critical of each other and themselves. Weight, food, and clothing are everything while the fun things in life are overlooked--until Bonny shakes things up. This is an excellent choice for girls as they navigate adolescence.
