Bernadette Dunne's come-hither quality becomes evident by the end of her first sentence. She wants you to come along with her as she tells this story of Julia, her Italian family, and her upcoming marriage. Julia finds a picture of a little girl who looks like her, and with Alex, a freelance photographer, she starts a search for what might be another family in her past. The characters are trite and the dialogue so banal that it's a hardship for Dunne to make a well-rounded person out of any of them. The men are gruff; the girls whine. Dunne's warmth brings us in, but we're not too happy we've come. J.P. © AudioFile 2006, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN/ JUL 06]
