FALLEN

This take on Genesis unfolds its story backwards, starting with the wanderings of the marked Cain (in Chapter 40) and heading backward toward Adam and Eve's fall from grace. Author David Maine brings motive and inner dialogue to the story, and narrator Simon Vance brings those elements alive, from Cain's rage at the God who cast his parents from Eden and his regret at his murder of Abel, to Eve's fears during the first childbirth and Abel's and Adam's faithful love of God. In this dramatic retelling, the discord in Cain and Eve makes them the more interesting characters; still, Vance makes listeners care about all four players in the first drama.
