GARSON KREBS PRIVATE EYE

According to the jacket, this series was broadcast on National Public Radio. It seems as if every comic writer finds it fatuously easy to take a crack at hard-boiled detective fiction, and the results on these audiocassettes are no better than bad. The episodes are filled with sophomoric humor, heavy in sexual innuendo, and entirely lacking subtlety; every joke is as obvious as a fist in the face. The two redeeming features are that the sound effects are good and the actors generally skilled in working out the flaccid and stereotypical characters.
