A RIVER OF CROWS

With a youthful delivery, narrator Lu Banks depicts the anger and confusion of a 12-year-old girl who is traumatized by the loss of her beloved brother in an apparent drowning near their favorite fishing spot. In the wake of the tragedy, their mother, an ornithologist, goes in and out of mental institutions. Then, the girl is left to her own devices when her father is convicted of having murdered her brother even though his body was never recovered. The plot evolves into an absorbing mystery 20 years later when the adult sister attempts to discover the truth behind her brother's disappearance.
