Listeners will find this audio play impactful. Pat, an elderly mother with Alzheimer's, is being placed in a care home by her daughter, Margaret. Margaret, wonderfully played by Juliet Stevenson, derives a great deal of comfort and spiritual regeneration from this special time with her mother. The two share a troubled past since Pat suffered from depression when her two children were growing up. Jane Lapotaire portrays the elderly Pat, who gives her daughter insights about the present world and the world to come. There are brief appearances by the golf-obsessed husband (Edmund Dehn), a dead daughter, Fiona (Jo Hartland), and the perky care giver, Miriam Johnnie Fiori). Penny Black wrote the play based on Maggie La Tourelle's novel THE GIFT OF ALZHEIMER'S. The cast is talented, and the topic of death is deftly handled.
