Scotland Yard sleuth Morris Black is on the trail of a psychopathic killer during the Blitz of 1940. Along the trail he teams up with MI5 and gets entangled in a web of duplicity, traitors, spies and intrigue. Page has an extremely versatile voice, which accurately and consistently portrays each of the many characters (a great many of whom are historical). The somberness and intensity of Black is especially well done. The narration is performed every bit as well as the dialogue, and the wealth of historical information puts one in the middle of whatever situation is described, whether it's an autopsy or a bombing. The reading of the raid on Coventry is terrifying. Page brings to life an exciting and fascinating work. M.T.F. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: NOV/DEC 96]
