An all-star ensemble of historical fiction authors and talented narrators make this collection excellent listening. Each short story features a compelling female character who is breaking barriers, pushing back against limiting expectations, and finding her power. The stories span decades and showcase characters impacted by war, artistic and social movements, cultural shifts, scientific achievements, and more. Each of the narrators matches the tone, setting, and emotions of her story. Particular standouts include: "Amelia's Shadow" by Marie Benedict, inspired by true events and narrated by Andi Arndt; "The Forgotten Chapter" by Pam Jenoff, narrated by Elizabeth Knowelden; and "Fallen Grace" by Sadeqa Johnson, narrated by Channie Waites.
