GENERAL JAMES LONGSTREET: THE CONFEDERACY'S MOST CONTROVERSIAL SOLDIER

by | Read by Jonathan Reese

Biography & Memoir • 19.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1993

The strength of this biography of one of the Confederacy's top generals lies in Wert's skillful writing style, rather than in the routine narration. Wert writes compactly with page-turning force. Jonathan Reese has a gentle, grandfatherly style decently suited to a nonfiction work such as this. His intonation is deep, and his pace is slow, but the sentences are well articulated, and the words are distinct and clear. Many Civil War biographies are appearing in audiobook form currently, and this is a good example of the field. D.W. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: FEB 97]
