EYEWITNESS 1960-1969

This is one installment in a BBC production on the history of Britain that covers the tumultuous 1960s. Tim Pigott-Smith is an authoritative presence whose job is to provide background information on the various events and to introduce the people and sounds discussed in the program. Pigott-Smith's seasoned actor's voice is serious on the Irish Troubles, slightly sarcastic on the Profumo Affair, and more playful on the Beatles. Many of the interviews and sound clips are fascinating because they capture the immediacy of the events from both a political and social perspective.
