John, a not completely successful playwright, returns to his family's home, with a new play he has written about them. His purpose is to obtain their permission to proceed with production. Members of his wealthy, enormously uptight family are cautious, unwilling to grant that permission. Deliciously played by Bruce Davison as John, Keene Curtis as John’s father, Nan Wilson as his mother, and Valorie Armstrong as sister Nina, this audio presentation, produced by L.A. Theatre Works, is excellent. With unfailing warmth and humor, these characters are exceedingly stereotypical, yet through the sharp dialogue by playwright Gurney and the vocal presentations by these skilled actors they also become very recognizable.
