Biography & Memoir • 9.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2024

Filmmaker and novelist Priyanka Kumar narrates her essay collection in a gentle voice. The works focus on her birding experiences, which are infused with personal memories. Sometimes she sees other wild creatures. At one point, she even sees a bobcat out the window of her New Mexico home. Her voice softens as she shares a peaceful experience watching cranes. Kumar doesn't go overboard as she tells of an injury on the way to a night owl-watching session with her family, but the story becomes funny and sympathetic. When Kumar mimics a hawk's cry, she's also mimicking her young daughter's imitation of the bird's sound. Kumar tells us about the birds and animals she sees, and also shows parents and other listeners how she shares her love of birds with her daughter.
