Betty Bobbitt's narration keeps pace with Siler's complex thriller, set in the dangerous alleys and souks of sun-drenched Morocco, as well as Tangier and France. After being shot, heroine Eve is found in a ditch with amnesia. She tries to piece together her history and find out why someone is trying to kill her by traveling to meet various people who know her. Bobbitt reads the no-nonsense dialogue clearly and warmly embraces the lively, lyrical descriptions of exotic locales. Eve's character is somewhat vague and elusive, but Bobbitt's voice suits her actions, which are full of verve and steel. Voices for the other characters are less individualized. Overall, Bobbitt's performance is competent but not inspired. S.C.A. © AudioFile 2006, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN/ JUL 06]
