[Editor's Note: This is a combined review of THE JOINER KING and OUTBOUND FLIGHT]--The differences between these two titles are solely connected to plot. They have the same dramatic special effects, the same John Williams theme music, the same voice alterations (for example, when a voice is coming over an intercom), and above all, the same reader, the scintillating Jonathan Davis. Davis's range is astounding. He captures numerous well-known voices--those of Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Princess Leia, Han Solo, the robots, Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious--with perfection. As to plot, OUTBOUND FLIGHT takes place during the reign of Palpatine and involves an intricate plot to weaken the Jedi, while THE JOINER KING involves the clash of two civilizations after the Emperor's downfall. These are magnificent productions. D.R.W. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award © AudioFile 2006, Portland, Maine [Published: AUG/ SEP 06]
