THE EDUCATION OF A COACH

David Halberstam's profile of New England Patriots Coach Bill Belichik is fascinating and adulatory. Halberstam provides an enlightening glimpse into the experiences that shaped Belichik into one of pro football's most successful coaches. Tom Stechschulte's narration is a perfect complement to the book. Stechschulte has a smooth yet gritty voice, reminiscent of a narrator from a sports highlight reel. More impressive, however, is Stechschulte's ability to convey Belichik's intensity with just the right tone, and without shouting or other histrionics. This surprisingly entertaining book is not just for Patriots fans, but for all who appreciate the effort and intelligence necessary to produce championship teams.
