Emma, unaware of the property's history, faces challenges from the proud owners at every step. As she sorts through others' belongings and her feelings about the family business, a new romantic interest emerges. Goodeve differentiates characters effectively, and her nuanced portrayal captures Emma's careful handling of sensitive topics.
