Dr. Alexandra Blake, geneticist at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, is hot on the trail of the Great Influenza outbreak of 1919 when she is reluctantly pressed into duty as a forensics expert in a series of murders. Her life is further complicated by the romantic interests of two men, a senator and a musician. Kathe Mazur's voice is pleasant to listen to, with good differentiation between the genders. She manages to handle the flowery writing with ease and without succumbing to over-the-top emotion. There's a sense of excitement where it's warranted.
