THE HERO GAME

What happens when you scratch the surface of a hero? Stuart McLoughlin's compelling portrayal of Charlie, an alienated, grieving teenager, seeks to answer this question. Depressed over the death of his father, Charlie is feeling like an outsider until his beloved grandfather agrees to share his experiences as a WWII Royal Air Force fighter pilot at Charlie's school. Charlie's pride turns to disillusionment and then horror when he learns that his grandfather also belonged to a fascist organization known as the Blackshirts. McLoughlin's rendition superbly expresses Charlie's emotions as he confronts his grandfather, discovers past truths, and finds forgiveness.
