The first three lectures in this series are hard to listen to. Gary Rendsburg's voice sounds stiff and distant, almost robotic. With the fourth lecture, however, Rendsburg's passion becomes audible, and the lecture delivery begins to match the content, which is unfailingly wonderful. Rendsburg is exceptionally careful and organized. He explains every foreign word and every scholarly term clearly, and he explains the theoretical approach used in discussing Genesis in meticulous detail. Rendsburg's knowledge of biblical history and texts is matched only by his personal and academic honesty. He presents all theories, identifies his own positions, and shares his own affections for particular Bible passages in a combination that demonstrates what scholarly lectures should be.
