THE H, STORY OF HEATHCLIFF'S JOURNEY BACK TO WUTHERING HEIGHTS

by | Read by Roger Rees

Fiction • 3 hrs • Abridged • © 1992

What happened when Heathcliff left Wuthering Heights? He went to Liverpool, met Mr. R., learned etiquette, turned into a gentleman, found his birthright, grew wealthy and became well acquainted with Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester. This abridgment is chronologically mystifying. Aside from the parade of Brontë characters, it includes tidbits from the lives of the two famous Brontë sisters, thereby confusing the listener with a multitude of plots. The climax, however, is a rip-roaring shocker and definitely makes listening to the questionable shuffling of fictional history worthwhile entertainment. Roger Rees, the featured reader, takes command of the material and plays the parts well. Dina Corsetti, who reads much of the story, is not as successful -- either in maintaining an English accent or in portraying the characters. J.P. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: AUG 92]
