After a decade away, Brent Walker returns to his Southern hometown and an impressive new job in the legal department of its major employer, a huge paper manufacturer. Scott Brick describes Brent's growing concern as labor contract negotiations approach and he discovers some details that don't add up. Brent leans on his old family friendship with one of the labor leaders and his daughter, a former girlfriend, when he stumbles across a cryptic list of numbers. Suspecting corruption, Brent considers whether to risk his new life in order to blow the whistle. Whom can he trust? Brick's stern voice is suitable for the narration of a tense thriller, but here his consistently intense delivery makes every character sound equally ticked off. Nevertheless, an entertaining listen.
