Using the analogy of BLINK!, Malcolm Gladwell's book about how people make snap judgments, LeGault offers a sociological view of Americans' thinking patterns and what leads us to these quick actions. Critical thinking, or the lack of it, is examined through issues facing modern society. LeGault contends that parents, the government, and public schools do not demand enough rigorous training of the new generation in how to think, allowing the media and technology to lead Americans in what to think. George Wilson narrates solidly, although the material lends itself to his lapsing into a professorial lecture mode that sometimes dulls attention. While this is better listened to in short spurts, the message is compelling. D.L.M. © AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/ MAY 07]
