LILLY'S BIG DAY AND OTHER STORIES

Christine Ebersole and Richard Thomas (yes, of John-Boy fame) take turns reading such classics as Julius, Baby of the World, Chrysanthemum, Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, and Wemberly Worried. Each does a fine job showcasing Henkes's gentle and perceptive wit and capturing his clever and child-pleasing prose. Taking turns, Ebersole and Thomas are as gracious as parents reading aloud at bedtime--though one hopes children will follow along as they listen, so as not to miss Henkes's delightful illustrations.
