NOT EASILY BROKEN

by | Read by Tracey Leigh

Fiction • 8.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2006

The title, from the Book of Ecclesiastes, suggests the benefits of a Christ-centered marriage. The novel explores themes of temptation, dreams deferred, communication, forgiveness, and renewal through an account of Dave and Clarice Johnson's fifteen-year marriage. The Johnsons are a successful dual-income African-American couple with no kids who are forced to reexamine their relationship and their priorities after a tragic accident. While Bishop T.D. Jakes's novel is Christian fiction, it never sounds preachy. There are no sermons or long prayers or Bible passages. Tracey Leigh's well-modulated voice is a good fit as she skillfully moves between the narrative and dialogue. Her pleasant delivery brings the listener into the hearts and minds of the characters.
