SHADOWFIRES

Dean Koontz's 1987 SHADOWFIRES is a gripping reminder of how the author built his fan base. Rachel suddenly becomes a widow when her husband darts into traffic and is hit by a car. Jonathan Marosz gives an intense narration of the roller coaster of horror that begins when Eric's body disappears from the morgue and Rachel realizes she is being stalked. The stalker seems all too familiar. As the stalker's mental state deteriorates, Marosz gives him an increasingly inarticulate and bestial voice that will make the hair rise on listeners' necks.
